Hello Paul!

I am in the midst of reading your book "In the High-Energy Zone" and am wanting to connect with you around the work you are doing now. I was not able to find information about NRG Consulting on the web, and am wondering where are you based out of and how I might get in touch with you.

Thanks!

I feel compelled to clarify a couple of things about my “scientific” measurement of unfulfilled people here. A more accurate portrayal of the “creative fulfillment man graph" at the top is like so.

Okay, I stand corrected on how impossible it might be to turn around a creatively stifling corporate culture. Do you remember Red Adaire, the Texan who used to cap out-of-control oil well fires around the globe? Well, that’s what Paul Deslauriers does with less-than-high-functioning corporate cultures. I know, because he helped my ad agency when we were not operating at peak. Frankly, I’ve seen Paul and his team tune up some pretty poor running groups. So, see, there is hope for all.

Tom you made a point I would like to emphasize about developing an organizational environment to maximize the creative and growth potential of employees. Doing organizational development for 23 years, that has always been my goal. My company has consulted to dozens of organizations, including over fifty ad agencies, the category you identify was “idea” companies.

Organizations are like an organism, they can get toxic, stagnant, and diseased. When they are healthy and vibrant they perform at a high level. An organization can become creatively stagnant by a boss unwilling to listen, department clashes causing disharmony, dysfunctional work processes, poor mentoring, the list goes on. The organization that is healthy looks after the staffs' creative and growth potential by developing an uplifting supportive environment, which any organization can achieve. Then as you mentioned you attract the best people, retain them, and the spiral of success continues upward.
