I love the FlipFold web site! And they sold over a million of 'em. And corporate customers include the Boston Red Sox and the FBI, two really neat organizations.

I never intended this post to be an infomercial museum, but,... well,...

And these FlipFold people surely got their money’s worth on their “You, too, can write persuasive advertising copy” book. I mean “the ultimate folding tool,” and “perfect, uniform folds every time,” and the brilliant “24x7 on-line catalog” as opposed to those web sites that close at 5:00.

Is this comment too flip?

Well this is about the worst I have ever seen.

Be sure to check out the video. I saw this on a late night infomercial. My roommate and I laughed for hours.

Shane, your Pocket Fisherman mention caused me to look up one of my all-time favorites - K-Tel's incredible Fishin' Magician. But, the only thing I could find was a couple of mentions on fishing sites and one, count 'em 1, actual Fishin' Magician for sale on eBay. I mean we're talking about Fishin' Magician here, a 12-in-1 tool that slices, dices, measures, weighs, sautés and wraps left overs, and only one is available. This is not a bad product idea. This must be the most prized possession of literally dozens of fishermen, so prized that they will not part with them.

But wait, there's more...

... I forgot, Fishin' Magician also comes with a undersized ruler to prove that your 8" bass is really a 9" bass. Maybe the reason these products are so scarce is because guys in leisure suits carry the ruler around with them on dates.

There are so many wonderful info-mercial related products to choose from. But, I would have to say my personal favorites are the 'Pocket Fisherman' and the 'Flo-bee' (http://www.flowbee.com/info_testimonials.htm), sorry for another hair product.

A few dumb marketing things: Any male enhancement drug or device. New Coke remains a big one. KFC promoting itself as healthy.

But in the spray-on hair category, I’ve always wondered about sea monkeys, which I believe were essentially brine shrimp…?

I don't know, Tom. I recently used spray-on hair in a web site for one of our clients. Check it out at http://www.wheelofeasy.com. (You might have to spin the wheel a few times to see what I'm talking about. It's completely randomized.)

Cheers,
Erik
