Before & After’s services fall broadly into two categories, plus many combinations of the two. First there’s our professional development or training services, where we “teach a man to fish” in the biblical sense. We also have serrvices in the applied creativity area, popularly referred to as “brainstorming,” where we lead fishing expeditions, so to speak. Most of our services work for any industry.
There is one industry category we do specialize in, however: advertising and other forms of marketing communications (design, promotion, relationship marketing, packaging, interactive, recruitment, etc.). We employ all of our services in this category; all training and brainstorming services, plus we offer special “services for ad agencies” indicated at the right.
Training and professional development
The engine of most of our work is our highly acclaimed creative thinking workshop, The Do-it-Yourself Lobotomy. This high-energy, skills-building program runs anywhere from one to six hours. The shorter version is ideal to kick off meetings, or as a prelude to other B&A sessions. The longer workshop is usually its own skills-and-team-building program. (more)

Brainstorming
Our FlashFlood Brainstorming is a high-output, proven ideation method which will bring fresh, big thinking to major challenges or opportunities that you may be facing. Before & After has served over 100 ad agencies and other types of marketing communications firms (design, promotion, relationship marketing, packaging, interactive, recruitment, etc.) We’ve worked for agencies of all sizes from small local firms to multi-nationals like BBDO, Ogilvy and FCB. We’ve also worked for dozens of in-house marketing communications departments in companies such as Target, Staples and Capitol One.
We offer a wide array of services for ad agencies and other marketing communications firms. Besides bringing our Do-it-yourself Lobotomy creative thinking workshop and FlashFlood Brainstorming to agencies and their clients we also offer custom services as well as proven pre-set programs.
Our most popular communications specific workshop, Ad Hell Camp has helped tens of thousands of advertising people, both “creatives” and others, to better understand the often forgotten fundamentals of effective marketing communications. It first distills the marketing communications creative process down to a short list of best practices that lead to single-minded, quick, clear, memorable communications. Brilliant marketing communications is usually only as good as the strategy and creative brief behind it.
